When requests are in 'Await Reply' state you can view the total number of requests currently waiting from the dashboard, as well as seeing the number of requests waiting per clinician.
From the Requests view you can click the 'Waiting' list (hourglass icon) to view the requests assigned to you which are currently in waiting.
The 
toggle allows you to flick between only those requests in wait state which are assigned to you, and the global list of all waiting requests, including those which are assigned to other users.
