Writeback enabled practices can now record and receive Blood Pressure results and have requests automatically flagged based on Blood Pressure Ranges set by the practice.
Note: Currently, a single Blood Pressure can be recorded per askmyGP request, where a Blood Pressure already exists, if a subsequent recording is taken, the original value will be replaced by the new Blood Pressure value when it's written back.
Blood Pressure Ranges
In 'Settings>System' you will find the below table which allows you to specify your own custom thresholds for Blood Pressure results.
When a Blood Pressure result is entered in the coding interface on the request screen (or the completion screen) in the staff portal, or by a patient via a field in a form, the values will be compared to the ranges set on the screen below. This will automatically apply the appropriate priority within the request list and with the associated flag applied, as specified.
If you wish to enter Blood Pressure ranges that will match EITHER the specified Systolic value OR Diastolic value, you would need to set the toggle on the seconf column to OR. If you wish to specifiy a threshold that requires both the Systolic and Diastolic ranges to match what you have configured, you would need to set the toggle to AND
Recording Ad-Hoc Blood Pressure Results
If a patient attends the practice for a physical examination and you wish to record their Blood Pressure, or, if you have a patient on the phone who has taken a Blood Pressure themselves, this can be recorded in one of the following ways.
Via tha ad-hoc coding screen in request view:
Select 'Add blood pressure', then enter the systolic and diastolic values and then click ok
Note: when you record a blood pressure value here, the system will check against the blood pressure ranges specified in the system settings screen to see whether the request flag needs to be updated.
Alternatively, when the request is completed, the Blood Pressure value can be added in the same way on the completion summary screen:
You can select 'Copy to record system' to writeback and code the Blood Pressure in the clinical record:
Blood Pressure results via forms
Certain forms within askmyGP may provide the means for patients to record a Blood Pressure. You could make these forms available via a custom action button, or send to the patient as a form to complete on an already open request where needed:
Any Blood Pressure results entered on a form will also check against the blood pressure ranges in the system setting screen and will automatically flag and reprioritise the request in the request list where appropriate:
