Managing Patient Attachments

We recommend that the practice create an 'askmyGP attachments' folder on their shared drive that all members of staff can access. When completing a request where a patient has sent an attachment, the individual completing the request should download the attachment to the folder on the shared drive, the attachment names are already fully identified when you save them.
 
This allows for either the person dealing with the request to upload the attachment into the clinical system, or alternatively provides enough detail for a member of the admin team to periodically review what's in the folder and add the attachments on their behalf.
 
We recommend deleting all attachments from this folder as soon as they have been uploaded to the clinical system. 
 
Note: Any attachments added by patients now appear in the request thread and 'copy screen' as a generic attachment icon, rather than a thumbnail preview of the attached image. If you click the icon you will be able to see the full picture itself and there are additional controls to rotate or zoom into the image if needed.
