Patients on the phone may need help to get going with askmyGP or with submitting their request.
Select the ‘Patients’ tab, search for the patient using the options on the patient search screen and then choose the relevant record:
If a patient is just unsure about how to get started click on ‘Send welcome email/password reset’ after creating their record and the system will email them a welcome email with a link to enable them to reset their password and create their request themselves. It is recommended that patients are encouraged to create their own request. This will show them how easy the system is to use and will save time next time they want to make a request.
If a patient genuinely cannot make the request themselves, you can do it for them.
Once the patient record is selected, click on ‘New Request.’
You will then be taken to the new request screen, where you have the options to either select one of the custom action buttons which your practice has configured, or alternatively raise a request via 'Message to patient' or 'Internal note' instead:
(1) Allows you to search all custom action buttons available at your practice to find the one you need straight away
(2) Allows you to toggle between 'Available' and 'All' custom action buttons.
Available - will allow you to see the same options that are currently being displayed to patients based on the availability set within the custom action button
All - will allow you to see all custom action buttons, regardless of their availability settings, if you can't see the option you need, you can toggle this option to find it or use the search (1)
(3) This is the list of custom action buttons currently available for you to select to initiate specific types of requests
(4) You can select this option to skip filling in a form and instead just create a request by sending a message to the patient
(5) You can select this option to skip filling in a form and instead just create a request via an internal note, which will not be visible to the patient
If selecting one of the options in (3) above, you will ask the same few questions as a patient would see if raising a request online themselves and can answer with their own words. The subject heading shows as normal both to the patient and internally so we recommend this route for normal purposes (ie. unless there is a special reason to keep confidential from the patient.)
